Hey! I like the 3/4 view. It gives a nice perspective that the straight down maps don't. As always though: the dm gets to look at cool maps -the players get to look at the dms skill with graph paper.
I've been experimenting with iso map tiles that allow you to build the same view on the tabletop. So the players would see exactly the same thing that the DM sees. Right now on my desk there are about 100 cardstock prototype iso tiles that I printed and cut by hand. I've been researching costs for getting them done in bulk on heavy chipboard/cardboard with the notion of doing a Kickstarter to get them printed.
I would pay good money for an application that let me easily build maps like that.
